From my audience feedback, I have learnt that it is the most important thing to consider, before attempting creating my own media products.  Before beginning the construction of my media products, I did a questionnaire that when answered would help me better to understand who my target audience is and what they want from my media product. I had a rough idea of what I personally wanted to achieve in my product, but I needed to clarify that others wanted the same. When I got the results back I learnt from my target audience feedback and improved on my initial ideas.

After showing the same audience my finished product, I feel I have accomplished most of their original desires and even improved some of them. However there are some aspects I would change. For example changing the end shot to a more scarier shot to freak the audience which would give more interest to the movie, but I have learnt this from my audience feedback, not just my own.

Location 1: Oriel Avenue

Oriel Avenue I think Oriel Avenue would be a good place to shoot Gilbert being picked up by Tyler and his gang. Oriel Avenue just has this old-school feel to it. It has the well known Oriel High School down the road which has gained a reputation for drugs and bullying which local members of the audience will connect with immediately when the shot is taken. Furthermore the school it’s self is bordered by rather menacing chain metal-fences which can be included in the shot without actually including the image of the school. The road it’s self is a shabby sub-urban like area (mostly council-owned) which helps maintain the uneasy atmosphere when Gilbert is picked up.

Location 2: The Back Alleys of Baliol Road

Baliol as many locals will tell you is one of the roughest streets in Gorleston and Great Yarmouth. It has a system of back-alleys which set the perfect atmosphere for one of Ryan’s killings. It would be shot during the night as the scene requires the victim Jacob to be stalked through the alley at night before the brutal fight taking place in which he is slaughtered by Ryan.

Location 3: The Allotments behind the Recreation Ground

The allotments behind the Recreation Ground are the perfect place to strike an ambush on the unsuspecting Gilbert. Also the rough rural surroundings make it unclear exactly where it is being filmed, leaving it up to the audience’s imaginations where he is being murdered. The general layout of the atmosphere in which he is being murdered would suggest it is not somewhere people come often, so it would probably be somewhere the gang could leave his body without anybody finding it.

Character Synopsis

Tyler McCarthy

Tyler McCarthy is a smug and vein boy with a cruel and sadistic sense of humor  He comes from a wealthy background and has been constantly spoiled. He lives a wild and rebellious life going to parties, drinking heavily, having one-night stands with women and occasionally taking drugs. He has a girlfriend (Amanda Brunette) who shares his sadistic and vein nature. Both are sexually motivated and egotistical. Tyler has his girlfriend by his side at all time accept from when he is out with his ‘best mate’ Jacob Smith, where he often goes and pulls and then sleeps with other girls behind his girlfriends back. His ego is what causes him to torment and eventually kill Gilbert. He is sexually motivated, and constantly has his hands all over his girlfriend at all times she is around him (who being a vein, sexually motivated person herself, doesn't mind much). He pressures Jacob in to doing bad things such as taking drugs and hurting Gilbert. He putts on a brave face but deep down is a coward (However not as much so as Jacob). Despite his big ego his girlfriend often is the one who leads him to do wrong with her seductive charm however he always takes it too far, and when others (sometimes including his girlfriend) try to stop him he simply continues. This is what inevitably leads to Gilbert’s death. He deserves to die first however dies last.

Amanda Brunette

Amanda Brunette is a cruel, seductive teenage girl shares in her boyfriend’s sick sense of humor and need for sexual interaction. Little to her boyfriend’s knowledge she knows she is constantly being cheated on, however without her boyfriend knowing she often goes around sleeping with many other boys her age and occasionally males much older than her. She is very vein and is constantly seeking the sexual attention of males. She often leads males on, particularly sexually desperate young men such as Jacob, playing games in their heads and making them all jealous of her boyfriend’s and other male’s privilege. She was taken advantage of sexually at a young age and had an extremely abusive child hood, which makes the audience sympathize with her when she is killed by Gilbert’s brother Ryan Cartman. She lives much the rebellious life of her boyfriend, taking drugs, drinking, joy-riding and often smoking weed with him. She constantly wants sex with him, and despite sleeping with other men herself, she finds herself being violently jealous of her boyfriend’s interest in other women and so craves his attention constantly touching him, kissing him and groping him and trying to obtain his sexual attention.

Jacob Smith

Jacob Smith is cowardly in nature, and has picked up his sick sense of humor from the friends he is surrounded by (particularly Tyler). His father is an abusive alcoholic and his mother sleeps around. He was bullied as a young boy and is always bullied and peer-pressured by his ‘best friend’ Tyler to do things he shouldn't  He is jealous of Tyler as he has strong feelings for his Amanda Brunette who often teases him. He has a kind girlfriend, Jessica, who always tries to steer him in the right direction but always fails. Jacob is sexually frustrated as he sees his best friend and his girlfriend are very sexually active but has no sex himself as Jessica chooses to remain celibate. Despite having a seemingly scummy appearance and personality he does not cheat on Jessica as he simply cannot bring himself to do it even when Tyler pressures him too. Jacob is a virgin. He joins in torturing Gilbert and uses him as a body on which to let out all of his frustration. All in all Jacob is a frustrated, troubled and confused young man, with a sick tendency.

Jessica Adams

Jessica Adams is unlike the others in her group. She is kind and considerate, never drinks, smokes, takes drugs and is celibate. She loves her family and cares about her friends no matter how horrible they are, and always stands by her boyfriend. She works hard managing to keep down two part-time jobs and study four A-levels. She is very shy, and has no other friends so is forced to tag along with them or be alone. She is totally against their mistreatment of Gilbert, often intervening to stop them from hurting him and then returning to comfort him after they have finished. She defends him to the last-even trying to stop them when they are killing him, but is overpowered by Tyler and is forced to stand down. She dresses in attire completely different to Amanda. Whereas Amanda wears skimpy clothes to attract the eyes of men, Jessica wears thick jumpers and jeans and sensible footwear. She tries to blend in while Amanda tries to stand out. Overall Jessica is strong-willed, sensible, kind and career-minded.

Gilbert Cartman

Gilbert is a troubled young man. He is very shy and constantly bullied; he spends most of his time in the computer rooms and library alone. His main Bullies are Amanda, Jacob and most of all Tyler McCarthy.  He is a big video-game player and third best in the world at World of Warcraft. He has a twin Brother called Ryan who is mentally unstable, but who loves him very much and when he can, defends him from bullies at every opportunity. Gilbert also has a respectable Mother and Father who love him very much. He doesn't swear, drink, smoke or take drugs the same as Jessica. He has a kind nature, but is frightfully shy and is cowardly.

Ryan Cartman

Gilbert has a twin brother named Ryan. Ryan is incredibly mentally unstable. When he’s not in Broad moor  he spends all his time studying and practicing martial arts and fighting sports. He knows how to use close combat weapons in horrifying detail. He is very physically fit being incredibly fast mentally and physically. He has a rugged appearance and voice however is extremely intelligent. He hates his Mother and Father for putting him in Broad moor but loves is brother immensely. He has an extremely short temper and when he is pushed things turn ugly and escalate rapidly. When he hears of his brother’s death He has the biggest psychotic breakdown he’s ever experienced wanting only the revenge of his brother in the form of brutal, bloody murder.
